Mizoram Pradesh Youth Congress accuses Assam CM Himanta Biswas for inciting tensions against neighbouring states.

Aizawl: The Mizoram Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) has issued a statement where they offered their deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the 6 Assam policemen who lost their lives during Monday’s clash inside Mizoram. They blame the unfortunate loss of lives on the actions of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswas Sarma, who ordered more than 200 armed Assam police to enter Mizoram and forcibly overrunning the police outpost at the border town of Vairengte. As a consequence the situation escalated, and resulting in worsening of tensions.

The MPYCC strongly condemns Assam police for opening fire against the unarmed Mizo civilians and clearly stated that Mizoram police only retaliated Assam’s aggressive action in a bid to protect the Mizo civilians.

They condemn Assam Government for having dispute with all its bordering states and call on these states for a dialogue on a common platform to solve the inter-state boundary disputes at the earliest.

MPYCC also urges the various states who's boundaries are constantly infringed upon by the Assam Government to unite together, and stand united against the increasing use of force by the Assam Government.

The MPYCC also accuses Assam Chief Minister for inciting the people of Assam through his Twitter feeds. They also stated that NEDA is formed not for the development and unity of the North Eastern states but merely a political arrangement for BJP to grab power in North East by all means.

Mizoram Pradesh Youth Congress Committee highly praised the bravery and resilience  of the Mizoram Police as well as the people of the bordering town of Vairengte and urged every resident of Mizoram to show solidarity against the illegally and barbaric intresion by the Assam Government.
